It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League Super Final 2019, to be held in Belgrade (SRB), from June 18-23, with the participation of the best eight teams of the preliminary rounds (Europa-Cup Final and Intercontinental-Cup) of the competition.

Belgrade is hosting the event for the first time since and has proven to be a strong and committed partner of FINA.

The 2019 edition of the World League Super Final is highlighted by the participation of:

Group A: Hungary, Japan, Canada, Spain

Group B: Australia, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Serbia

These eight teams from four continents demonstrate the universality of this League and the interest of many cities in hosting the final phase of the competition.

The coexistence of powerhouses in the sport with emerging nations that are battling to develop the sport in their territory reinforces one of the FINA’s goals over the last years: to attract a new and larger public and to ensure a wider TV audience for this historical Olympic discipline (the oldest team sport in the Olympic programme).

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the continuous support and professionalism of the Organisers, National Federations, athletes, coaches and officials participating in the 2019 edition of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League.

I also wish to sincerely thank the Water Polo Federation of Serbia for the organisation of the Super Final 2019 in their capital. The support of the sponsors, media representatives and spectators is also essential in promoting water polo worldwide.

I wish the participating teams the best of luck.

Dr. Julio C. Maglione

FINA President

Dear competitors and guests!

It is a great honor and responsibility to host FINA Men’s Water Polo World League Super Final in our country. We are grateful to FINA for given confidence once again, since we have organized two World and one European Championships for younger generations in the past three years.

Nine years ago, in 2010 we have already hosted the ninth edition of FINA Men’s Water Polo World League in the city of Niš but this is a first time in Belgrade, at the place which has entered the world history of sports as a sports center where the first FINA World Championships in Aquatics and FINA Men’s Water Polo World Cup were held.

Nine is a significant number for us in another respect, since our national men’s team has won this momentous competition exactly this number of times. Now and again, we have the same desire to confirm the high renown of the Serbian water polo by quality participation, sports behaving and results.

This time as always with the help of our Government, we have done our best to be good hosts, worthy of our renown and name, to provide with maximum organization the best quality conditions that, we hope, will contribute to victorious results.

On behalf of the Serbian Water Polo Federation and my own behalf best wishes to all participating teams and to the spectators and supporters who follow them. Enjoy these six magnificent days of Water Polo.

Viktor Jelenić

President Serbian Water Polo  Federation
